Cross country team ends year with 15th place showing at NCAA regional

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The men's cross country season came to a close Saturday for Missouri S&T as the Miners came in 15th place at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at Ferris State.

The Miners got their top individual performance from sophomore Jacob Tayloe (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), as he finished the 10-kilometer course in 33:41 to come in 43rd place.  David Huskisson (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) was the next Miner across the finish line in 59th place in an even 34 minutes.

S&T's next three runners were Daniel Deposki, who finished 80th in 34:34; Wynn McClellan (Jackson, Mo./Notre Dame), who came in 90th place in 34:43 and Greg Gibson (Jackson, Mo./Jackson), who posted a time of 35:47 to come in 118th place.

Chris Marchman (Sheridan, Ark./Sheridan) had a time of 35:69 and Brian Scherping (Chesterfield, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit) finished in 37:17 to round out the Miner contingent.

Grand Valley State won the meet with 20 points to finish well ahead of the other two automatic qualifying teams, Southern Indiana and Ashland.  The Lakers had five of the top eight runners overall, led by meet winner Anthony Witt in a time of 31:58.

Missouri S&T finished sixth among the Great Lakes Valley Conference schools at the meet.
