ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T sophomore David Huskisson (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) has been selected to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's all-academic team for the 2010 season, as he was one of 182 men's student-athletes from the NCAA Division II level selected to the squad.

Huskisson, who is from Kirksville, Mo., was the Miners' top runner throughout the 2010 season and earned the highest finish ever for a Miner runner at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships since S&T joined the league, placing sixth in the eight-kilometer race at the meet held in November.

He was a three-time recipient of the GLVC's “Runner of the Week” award during the season, earning the award after the meets at Southwest Baptist, Missouri Southern and the University of Arkansas.

Huskisson is majoring in business at Missouri S&T.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA's all-academic team, student-athletes must have a 3.25 cumulative grade points average through the 2010 fall semester with at least 12 credit hours during that semester, while finishing among the top 50 percent at the national meet or top 30 percent at the regional championships.

Both of Missouri S&T's cross country teams were cited by the organization with team academic awards as well.

The men's team earned their award with a 3.50 grade point average as a unit.  Missouri S&T was one of 68 teams in NCAA Division II to have at least a 3.0 academic average and have five scoring runners at the regional meet, while being one of five schools from the GLVC that was cited.

Meanwhile, the women's team was among 107 teams to earn the award and was joined by five other GLVC schools on the women's all-academic team.
