SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri S&T recorded an eighth place finish Saturday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, with senior
Aaron Viets (Excelsior Springs, Mo./Lutheran HS) finishing as the Miners' top runner in the eight-kilometer race.
Viets finished in 23
rd place overall with a time of 25;59, followed by Daniel Deposki in 33
rd in 26:14. Jacob Taylor placed 54
th overall in 26:42, while the Miners' top five was rounded out by
Brett Conway (Troy, Ill./Triad) in 60
th place in 26:59 and
Justin Brown (Independence, Mo./Truman) in 66
th place in 27:13.
S&T's top seven was completed by
Nathan Boys (Pomona, Mo./West Plains) in 68
th place in 27:17 and
Brian Scherping (Chesterfield, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit) in 75
th in 27:30.
The race winner was Southern Indiana's Michael Jordan, who won by 10 seconds over teammate Tyler Pence in 24;39. The Screaming Eagles also won the team competition with 34 points as their top four runners finished in the top 10.
The Miners will compete at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional on Nov. 3 at Kenosha, Wis.
