ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T has its first All-America football selection for the 2012 season as junior defensive tackle
Eddie Rascon (Canutillo, Texas/Canutillo) was named to the NCAA Division II honorable mention squad by Beyond College Sports Network.
Rascon is tied for 10
th in NCAA Division II for quarterback sacks as he finished the year with 13 and also recorded 14.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, which ranks among the top 30 in the nation as well. Rascon finished the season tied for second on the team in overall tackles with 44.
The Miner defense ranks first in NCAA Division II in turnover margin – forcing two more per game than their opponents – and second in sacks with a school record 45.
Missouri S&T finished the season at 10-1 was ranked 19
th in the American Football Coaches Association rankings following the regular season. The Miners finished second in the GLVC to NCAA playoff qualifier Indianapolis in the inaugural season of GLVC play.
