ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T second baseman
Michael Lockett (O'Fallon, Mo./Timberland) has been selected to the Daktronics All-Midwest region baseball team for the recently completed 2013 season.
Lockett, a second-team selection to the All-Midwest team as selected by the sports information directors in the region, was named after a season in which he was also chosen to the Great Lakes Valley Conference's All-West Division team.
During the 2013 season, Lockett led the Miners in hitting – among players with enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title in the GLVC – with a .310 batting average. He led the Miners with 53 hits, which included a team-high 11 doubles and drove in 27 runs, which ranked second on the team. In addition, he recorded a 15-game hitting streak which ranked as one of the longest in school history.
Lockett was also one of the top defensive players at his position in the region as well, as he committed only two errors for the entire season in 197 chances in the field for a .990 fielding percentage.
