ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's baseball team will hold a number of camps in December for youth and high school baseball players in the Miner Dome, as well as a prospects camp in January.
S&T will host two youth hitting camps, the first on Dec. 4 and 5 for children ages six through nine. The camp will run from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 and from 9-11 a.m. the following day at a cost of $60. The camp will cover all aspects of hitting, including tee drills, toss drills and live hitting.
The following weekend, Dec. 11 and 12, S&T will hold a hitting camp for children ages 10 through 14. The camp will take place on Friday, Dec. 11 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9-11 a.m. at a cost of $60 and will cover various hitting drills and swing analysis.
The Miners will host a pair of youth pitching camps on those weekends as well. The first pitching camp, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 from 12-1:30 p.m., is for children ages eight through 10, while the second camp for those from ages 11 through 14 will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 12-1:30 p.m.
The pitching camps will cover the basics of pitching at the youth level, with drills to improve mechanics and arm strength. The pitching camps will be limited to 16 children for each session. The cost of the pitching camps is $35.
Missouri S&T will also hold a pair of two-day camps – at a cost of $75 each -- for players at the high school level during the first two weekends in December. On Dec. 5 and 6 from 2-4 p.m., each day, S&T will hold a hitting camp that will focus on drills, analysis and strength training. The high school hitting camp will be limited to the first 28 individuals to allow for instruction in small groups.
One week later, on Dec. 12 and 13 from 2-4 p.m., S&T will host a high school pitching camp which will cover the basics on mechanics, fielding the position and preparing one's arm for the high school and collegiate seasons.
In addition, Missouri S&T will be hosting its annual Miner Baseball Winter Prospect camp on Saturday, Jan. 23 for players ages 15 and older during the 2015-16 school year. The camp will consist of a pro-style workout and each camper will be given an individual evaluation. The camp will limited to the first 40 individuals who register.
The Jan. 23 camp will start at 1 p.m. at a cost of $50 for each individual.
For all camps, players must bring proper equipment, including footwear for turf and or natural surface, as well as a copy of their current insurance card.
Missouri S&T's baseball team, led by head coach
Todd DeGraffenreid, won the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division championship in 2011 and 2012 and has played in four of the last five GLVC Tournaments. The Miners also took part in the 2011 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional in the first of their back-to-back 30-win seasons.
